Pile of Shame update

Have been getting stuck into Little Big Planet the last few weeks, and now I can put a red line though it as I finished the single player story, such a good game, and damn hard towards the end. Still loads of replay value with all the community levels that have been created, and the 4 player co-op that is a given. With the All star trip nearly here my babies will be having a break, and with 3 (god of war 3, bioshock 2 & heavy rain), possibly 4 (god of war collection or Mario) new games coming shortly, I will need to get my finger out and get this pile cut down to size.

My problem is I want to play so many more games, I have yet to sample batman arkham asylum, afro samurai and wolverine to name but a few…

Heavy Rain Demo – PS3

Having been on the Heavy Rain website, there was a link to the developers site, which gave a bit of the background to the origami killer on which the game is based. Anyway long story short, and about 40 minutes later, you are tasked with going through the website and picking out bits of evidence, if you got all the clues correct (which I did woop woop) you get a code to download the demo.

Ok, so the demo is not small at 1.8gig, but 30 minutes later, I was ready to go.

Having already played this at the leeds expo, I was wondering if it was going to be the same demo, looking at you here e3 god of war demo… and I was pleasantly surprised when it was not the case. You have two story samples, and a tutorial, which I highly recommend so you know what is going on. The main story segments see you playing as either the private investigator, or an FBI agent, so far I have only played the PI a few times over just to see how differently the scenes can play out, and I have to admit I was already looking forward to the game coming, and this has just kicked that up a notch.

So far only one slight draw back, the demo suffers from glitching, and what I mean by that is this, the whole game is one long cut scene, so when you are in the cut screen you expect the person you are speaking to remains on the screen, currently the people are glitching off the side of the screen, leaving you looking at the back ground, but still hearing the conversation, hopefully this bug will be fixed in the final release, or have a day one patch to fix it.

MAG

I do like it when websites ship games out a day or two early, its like your getting a little extra bouns. Well the newest title to arrive is MAG playstations Massive Action Game, you may remeber i was in the beta a few months ago, and i was that impressed by it, i took the plunge and bought the full game.

As this is an online only game it will not be going on the pile of shame as there is no story to complete.

I shall update you all later on how the game is progressing, and what my thoughts are of the final game.

Fieldrunners DLC

One of my all time favorite iphone games has just had an update and boy they crammed a lot in. they have released an update (1.3), in which they've released two new maps available as in-app purchases, yeah I know, iphone DLC, and me being the sucker I am bought both maps at 59p each, also they've included OpenFeint 2.4 functionality, with messaging, chat, and everything else the in-game social network portends.

The two new maps are called Skyway and Frostbite.
Skyway boasts a metal floor with a few holes in it, which limit where you can place your units in the tower defense classic. This is the only map I have finished at the moment, I will post up some pictures of the next map once I have mastered it. So far I have seen a few new enemies and a new tower, a freaking lay-zer (said in best doctor evil voice) which takes a bit of time to fire up, but when it does, it wipes the floor with anything in its path.

Frostbite is a snowfield with a base in the middle to defend from attackers on all sides. Seems like both offer up some interesting twists on the gameplay, as I mentioned they are 59p each (a fact that has the most recent iTunes reviews up in arms), but if you ask me, it’s a small amount to pay for new content, especially if you're a big Fieldrunners fan already.

The update itself is a free download for paid users, though, so if you want that OpenFeint functionality, hit up the App Store and load the game up yet again.

Backbreaker

Yes, you are seeing correctly I am posting about an iphone game that is not the 33rd division. Having decided to try some other games, I was round a friend’s house and tried this game, Backbreaker, after about 5 minutes of playing I was sold, now it was a little more than normal at £1.19, but its so worth it.

This is a fun puzzle game disguised as an American football game and is unique in its field, instead of playing against another team, you are one guy running for the end zone. The game handles really well, tilt your iphone left or right to make your chap run in that direction, also from the screen shot you will see a selection of buttons, sidestep left or right, and spin left or right, the final buttons are sprint, and show boat, which slows you right down, but gives you a tone of bonus points if pulled off successfully, all of which will keep you on your toes as the opposition team try to tackle you.

The longevity of this game appears pretty good, I have only just started playing this, but as you progress, you unlock pro and hardcore levels, along with the endurance mode, which is brutal. I am not the biggest American football fan, but this game is a complete riot.

Pile of Shame

With the festive season you would normally see an influx of games to get stuck into, however this year was a bit lighter than normal with a large number of games being pushed to Q1 next year.

However santa was still kind enough to bring me three top games to get stuck into.

Forza3, Left4Dead 2 and Uncharted 2 best get some time off work to get stuck into these badboys.

Its Snowing...!!

Took this hanging out my office window about 20 minuutes ago.
I know this is a cliché, but it really is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.
